Isabel Blumenberg introduced us to the art of self-marketing and impressively showed us how much influence even small things can have on our own perception, but also on how we are perceived by others.
Key questions:
- How can we become more visible?
- What do we want to be visible for?
- Is it okay to be loud?
- How do we act confidently?
- How do we appear self-confident?
- Do my self-image and the perception of others match?
A central point was the manifestation of our own goals. Are we clear and at peace with our goals? We also received practical tips on how to position ourselves better in meetings and how to deal with interruptions with confidence. Clear communication was the be-all and end-all here.
Inappropriate comments are often particularly challenging. Isabel gave us various repartee strategies to help us master such situations with grace. One example: first accept the comment and say thank you - perhaps unusual, but extremely effective!
Another important point: celebrate all successes, no matter how small they are!
This puts you in a good mood and energises you for the next hurdles - which will definitely come.
It was a great experience to discuss and learn from each other with so many motivated colleagues. A big thank you to Isabel for the lively workshop and to all the participants who got involved!
And yes, accepting and responding to inappropriate comments remains a challenge for me. But I'm working on it - step by step!
