Insights into "rethink textile waste - sewing as a feminist practice"

On 11 November 2025, the workshop "rethink textile waste - sewing as a feminist practice" took place under the direction of Milena Dehnavi.

An introduction to the problems of the fast fashion industry, which highlighted the exploitation of female labour in global supply chains in particular, was followed by a practical part. Here, the participants got creative with textile waste and made individual pieces that combine sustainability and self-determination.

The event was designed by Professor Dr SigrunPrahl and supported by Equal Opportunities Officer Dr Sandra Laumen. At the end, all participants were able to take home several self-made projects - as a sign of a more conscious and emancipatory approach to fashion.
