This date was chosen because on 17 May 1990, the World Health Organisation (WHO) officially removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses. IDAHOBIT serves to draw attention to discrimination and violence against queer people worldwide and to campaign for their rights and equality.
Equality at the Hochschule Niederrhein attaches great importance to the topic of sexual and gender diversity.
