Mareike Schlangen is the new Chairwoman of the Equal Opportunities Commission

The members elected their new chair on 2 April 2025.

On 2 April, the members of the Equal Opportunities Commission elected their new chairwoman: Mareike Schlagen will take over as Chair of the Commission from now until the end of her term of office in 2026.

She will be represented by her predecessor Prof Dr Markus Lake. Schlangen is a student member of the committee and is doing her Master's degree in the Department of Chemistry.

This year, the focus will be on implementing the award-winning submissions from the 2024 ideas competition.

Other committee members are Nuray Keles (Master's student at the Department of Social Sciences) from among the students, Prof Dr Marina-Elena Wachs (Department of Textile and Clothing Technology) from among the university lecturers, Nikolai Desch (Department of Engineering and Computer Science) and Friederike Makowski (Department of Healthcare) from among the academic staff and Nina Ilina (Student Advisory Service, Events) from the administration. The Equal Opportunities Officer Dr Sandra Laumen is an ex officio member.
