Review of Orange Days | International Day against Violence against Women and Girls

From 20 November to 11 December 2024, various events and campaigns took place around the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls, organized and supported by Gender Equality.

The hybrid panel discussion entitled "Violence against women: Perspectives for Change" kicked things off. We were involved in an art action that depicted the femicides of 2024 (around 90 so far) in an expansive way. We also showed two films on campus, "Die Unbeugamen 2" and "Feminism WTF".

From November 25 to December 10, the Terre des Femmes "Live free without violence" flags were raised at all locations to draw attention to the issue.

Also on November 25, the university took part in the lighting campaign for the International Day against Violence against Women and Girls and displayed the university logo on the main auditorium V2 facing Theodor-Heuss-Straße in orange.

Together with the student unions in NRW, the equal opportunities officers at 31 universities and university hospitals provided campaign bags entitled "Gewalt kommt mir nicht auf den Campus" (Violence doesn't come on campus), which were used from November 25.

We would like to thank all the co-organizers, the panel discussion participants, the technical staff and the janitors, as well as the AStA and the faculty student councils 05 and 06 for the catering. Without you, the events and activities would not have been possible.
