Following the hazardous substances incident in the Berliner Straße area of Krefeld, the all-clear has been given for the majority of the city.
The fire service’s efforts to drain and pump out the leaked hazardous substance have been successful. The relevant authorities have reduced the danger zone to a radius of 200 metres around the scene of the incident.
Outside this area, people may leave enclosed spaces again. Localised odour nuisance remains possible, but according to the authorities, this does not pose a danger.
The Hochschule Niederrhein is therefore lifting the precautionary restrictions on its campuses outside the designated danger zone. University operations can resume as normal.
We continue to ask that you avoid the immediate vicinity of the accident site and follow the instructions of the security and emergency services.
