The visitors from Mönchengladbach and the surrounding area took this to heart. The registration of a right-wing counter-demonstration triggered a wave of solidarity in the city. Instead of the originally expected 250 demonstration participants, we had over 1250!
The Hochschule Niederrhein was in the thick of it instead of just being there: led by an energetic group in the new PrideProgress shirts, it accompanied the demonstration with a great atmosphere - supported by Pierre Gensior and a rousing jukebox. The positive energy could be felt along the entire route; dancing, singing and with a clear attitude.
The joint information stand of Equality, PrideProgress and the AStA's queer oral presentation was creative and colourful: designing buttons, making rainbow bracelets, having good conversations and answering lots of curious questions were on the agenda all day. Our goodies and information offers were very popular and turned the stand into a real meeting place.
If you missed the CSD Mönchengladbach, don't worry: the CSD in Krefeld continues on 16 August, where the university will once again be represented with a stand and in the demonstration procession.
We would like to thank everyone who made this day so powerful, colourful and full of solidarity. Together we show: Diversity is our strength and love knows no exclusion.
