The Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR) racing team successfully passed the technical acceptance tests for the battery and electrics for the first time at this year's Formula Student - a significant milestone in the development of its own electric racing car. The team took part in the international events in Most (Czech Republic) and Hockenheim (Germany) with the further developed vehicle.
Formula Student is one of the most important international competitions in student motorsport. In addition to numerous European teams, teams from the USA, Canada, India and Indonesia were also represented.
The team demonstrated its progress with its second electric racing car, an optimised version of the 2024 model. Although the vehicle was unable to take part in the dynamic disciplines due to a lack of residual approvals, HSNR Racing nevertheless achieved 51st place in Most and 77th place in Hockenheim.
However, the team draws its greatest motivation from the development after the events: The vehicle was successfully put into operation for the first time in Krefeld. "This result not only confirms our technical concept, but also motivates the entire team for the coming season," says Philipp Jacobs, who manages HSNR Racing together with Titus Thimm.
HSNR Racing is the Formula Student Team of The Hochschule Niederrhein. For several years, students have been developing innovative racing vehicles to compete internationally in areas such as design, efficiency and driving dynamics. Since 2024, the focus has been on electromobility and sustainable drive concepts.
