Textile students exhibit their work at the NEONYT in Düsseldorf

Mönchengladbach. Students from the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology at the Hochschule Niederrhein will be presenting their collections at the NEONYT textile fair in Düsseldorf (Areal Böhler, Hansaallee 321) from January 28th to 30th. The special thing about NEONYT: Only exhibitors who have successfully passed a sustainability check beforehand are allowed to present. The Hochschule Niederrhein is represented with two stands.

The six students Antonia Dannenberg, Nadine Gottwald, Michèle Lemper, Gabriela Lopes, Franziska Jauch and Gia Phuc Trinh will present their five collections, which they designed, constructed and manufactured as part of their theses, at the stand of the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology. The collections at the booth will be complemented by video footage of fashion shows and image productions for the collections.

At another booth in the Knowledge Area, the university's own Research Institute for Textile and Clothing (FTB) will present itself with the sustainable research project "HempKnit". "With hemp, numerous sustainability problems can already be solved through the selection of fibers, and what is also interesting about the cooperation is the completely regional approach from cultivation to production," says senior professor Ellen Bendt.

The aim of the REACT EU project, which is still ongoing, is to develop a functional cardigan made of 100% hemp with a regional value chain and produced using the 3D Zero Waste process. The project is being carried out in cooperation with the company Bache GmbH in Rheinberg.

Professor Dr. Maike Rabe, head of the FTB Institute, will also be a speaker at Prepeek, the networking event held as part of NEONYT, and is convinced of the idea behind the fair: "Fashion that is produced under sustainable aspects needs this platform. After the odyssey from Berlin, to Frankfurt and two Corona years, we as a university are ready to contribute with our talents and ideas to the success and expansion of this fair. It's great that our students can also enter into direct exchange with the industry in this way and gain experience as exhibitors."
