@hochschuleniederrhein is a filmic faculty exhibition of the compulsory optional course Experimental Design under the direction of Dipl. Designer Anna Koch @annaa_koch. The film was realized by students of the Faculty of Design @hsnr_design. In the course Experimental Design - prints for fashion, students learn how to deal with experimental, innovative, artistic and creative form finding in design methodology and serves as a basis for getting to know and developing different representation techniques for pattern design. Continuing on, digital implementation in Photoshop to create print data for digital and transfer printing will be taught and realized. Contextual, innovative and experimental textiles will be created. Patterns that "formulate" and make identities visible. The goal is to design the surfaces of a garment. The fabrics were realized in the textile printing shop of the university. The different themes of the works and the different ways the students dealt with them inspired our filmmakers Hendrik van Amstel @hendrik.va, Kevin Mohr @kevinmohr_ and Lukas Prangen @lukeprangen to give the film the name "Unconstrained". A good word to reflect the diversity of the works and to symbolically summarize the many small stories. The film also conveys this diversity in its visual language and music. We thank the University Communications department for allowing our students to experience this highlight in the lonely Corona time.
