Dear teachers,

Thank you for your interest in the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology at the Hochschule Niederrhein.

The Bachelor's degree programmes in Textile and Clothing Technology, Design Engineering and Textile and Clothing Management combine creative thinking with scientific, technical and business know-how.

The choice of different specialisations such as Textile Technologies, Product Development or Management and Sustainability enables our students to help shape the future of the textile and clothing industry in an innovative and sustainable way according to their interests. Practical training is intensified through work in our university's own laboratories and close cooperation with partners from industry, business and research.

For further specialisation, various Master's degree courses are offered in German or English.

Guided tours through the department

If you would like to get to know our department personally, you are welcome to drop by during school hours. We will organise a varied morning for you and your pupils.

The programme could look like this:

  • 08:45 a.m. - Arrival in the foyer of building G (Webschulstr. 31)
  • 09:00 a.m. - Presentation of our degree programmes
  • 09:45 a.m. - Guided tour of our department and the MG campus
  • 10:30 a.m. - Workshop
  • 12:30 - End of the event

The time schedule can of course be customised.

Workshops

We offer an interactive programme for your pupils that you can take advantage of free of charge.

The following workshops are available:

  • Drawing: Methods for creative stimulation
  • Virtual Lab: Insights into virtual product development
  • Smart Textiles: The combination of textiles and electronics
  • Ready-to-wear technology: An insight into garment production
  • Textile printing: getting to know and using digital textile printing
  • Dobby and jacquard weaving: The basics of weaving on a dobby and jacquard machine

Insights into our degree programmes

The department offers Bachelor's degree programmes in Textile and Clothing Technology, Design Engineering and Textile and Clothing Management. This is followed by the opportunity to gain further qualifications in two Master's programmes.

In the 5th semester, our students work on real tasks in an interdisciplinary and in some cases international way - with a practical, industry-oriented approach and in direct contact with real clients.

The big innovation and recruiting fair at the Mönchengladbach campus
Over two days, a wide range of companies from the textile and fashion world present themselves and provide an insight into training and job entry opportunities. From the first contact to internships and dream jobs - everything is possible! MG zieht an takes place every two years at the Mönchengladbach campus.

Boy's Day

On Boys' Day, you will gain exciting insights into the specialist area of textile and clothing technology. This not only deals with fashion and home textiles, but with the entire process "from fibre to product". This also includes technical textiles, which are used, for example, in the automotive and aviation industries, in the construction industry or in protective clothing for the fire brigade and police. Modern developments such as smart textiles and wearables are also part of the specialism.

Taster lectures

Here you will find our range of open lectures to which we would like to welcome you in order to familiarise you with everyday study life in our department. If you register your visit, we will send you all the important information in advance, such as a campus map, and will also inform you by email at short notice if the lecture is cancelled.
