Multifunctional classroom - Textile ideas for the whole day at school

What will the classroom of the future look like if children spend the whole day at school in the future? Team 10 of the 5th semester projects employed this question.

The legal entitlement to all-day care from 2026 will create new requirements for learning spaces that need to be more flexible, child-orientated and functional. The team developed a textile room concept based on visits to the Venn Catholic primary school, interviews with teachers and OGS staff and collaboration with the Muth manufactory: the multi-textile system. It combines an explorer curtain with modular themed areas and a table cover, which together create structured areas for retreat, play and informal learning. Both elements are made of flame-retardant Trevira CS and are designed for the intensive day-to-day running of the OGS.

The team's aim was to design textile solutions that functionally expand learning spaces and give children new opportunities throughout the day. Special thanks go to Venn Catholic Primary School for the friendly cooperation and the exciting insights into everyday school life, as well as to Manufaktur Muth for their valuable support during the project phase!
