When safety is a top priority, a rope that glows in the dark could be just the right solution!
Who would have thought that there is a whole science behind ropes? Gleistein GmbH shows that there is much more to it. The company has been manufacturing ropes since 1824 and is an absolute professional in this field. As a topic contributor to Team 5, the company brought valuable industrial expertise to the project. The aim of the collaboration was to improve visibility and safety in the dark through innovative lighting solutions.
The project team succeeded in developing four luminous rope prototypes. One prototype uses a silicone core with integrated LEDs, another works with polymer optical fibres for uniform light conduction. A third combines electroluminescent wires with LEDs, while the fourth integrates inductive LED modules directly into the rope structure. Different technical approaches have thus been successfully realised.
