Easter holiday campus for pupils

During the Easter vacations, pupils from the 9th grade upwards can register for exciting and free projects at the Hochschule Niederrhein in Krefeld and Mönchengladbach. In addition to the very popular workshops "Coding School" and "Cosplay meets Technology," there are two new offerings where young people can immerse themselves in the world of solar energy and water.

On April 3rd, pupils can attend the workshop "Sunny Prospects" and learn all about photovoltaics. How is it that solar cells generate electricity? Participants are allowed to tinker and experiment themselves to learn how a solar cell works. They build small electronic circuits and use them to operate light-emitting diodes, energy storage devices and a motor. The event starts at 8:15 a.m. at the Krefeld South Campus.

From April 3rd to 6th, the cosplay workshop "The Magic Workshop" will take place. Cosplay involves recreating characters from mangas, movies and video games as faithfully as possible through costumes and behavior. In cooperation with the zdi center KReMINTec, the university invites you to the MakerSpace at the Krefeld South Campus. Here, participants will immerse themselves in the world of the wizarding school known from Harry Potter. Participants will sew a robe with Nicole Busch from Lenora Gewandungen. Sabrina Eickhoff from Monono Creative Arts will give an introduction to the thermoplastic material Worbla, from which pupils will make a wand and other magical accessories. Register by March 27th.

The popular Coding School will be held twice. From April 3rd to 6th in Krefeld and from April 11th to 14th in Mönchengladbach. Participants learn how to program on the basis of projects and can expand their existing knowledge. There is no frontal instruction, but pupils learn from students of computer science. Previous knowledge is not required. In addition to the programming languages shell scripting, Python and C, individual interests can also be taken into account. Also on the program: an exciting social program with virtual reality sessions, a visit to the high-tech workshop Makerspace and the popular hacker game "Hack-me-if-you-can". Registration by e-mail codingschool@hsnr.de

At the workshop "Ha-Two-Ooh!" - Exciting Things About the Element of Water, youngsters embark on a colorful water journey. On April 13th, pupils will explore the following questions: What substances are dissolved in water? Can water also taste good? How can people better protect and clean this important resource? The engineers of the future will know the right formula to counteract climate change. The workshop will take place at the Krefeld South Campus.
