Employee management to be an independent module in career-integrated studies in the future

Changes as of the winter semester 2020/21

Good leadership of one's own employees is increasingly becoming a critical success factor for managers in business and administration. For this reason, the MBA Degree programme Leadership & Management is dedicating a separate study module to this topic from the winter semester 2020/21. In doing so, the Degree programme management is also implementing a recommendation resulting from a survey of graduates of the Degree programme.

The new study module will teach the practical factors of employee management at the operational level. Special attention will be paid to conducting employee appraisals. Building on the foundation course in communication, students will use selected exercises to test and implement practical interview management. In the process, different occasions for employee appraisals that are relevant in practical application will be taken into account, such as appraisal, criticism and promotion interviews. In a further part of the module, the students recognize which essential framework conditions are to be observed by the labor law in the management of employees.

Two extremely qualified contract lecturers, Frank Gierschmann and Professor Dr. Angela Knauer, have been recruited for the module. Frank Gierschmann, a business psychologist and MBA, is a partner at hkp//, a consulting firm in the field of talent and performance management in Frankfurt. He brings with him many years of experience in top positions at various companies, including as Global Head of Talent Management at a listed logistics group. The lawyer Dr. Knauer, who is responsible for the labor law part of the module, is a professor of business law at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences and a judge at the Regional Labor Court in Düsseldorf.
