Are you fascinated by technology but don't yet know exactly what you want to study? Our orientation semester will help you decide which technical degree programme is right for you. For one semester, you will get to know the Faculties of Chemistry, Engineering and Computer Science and Faculty of Industrial Engineering.
In projects and events, you can find out what suits you, what you enjoy and what really excites you. Only then will you decide on one of eight Bachelor's degree programmes. During the semester, you will get to know everyday university life and other technology enthusiasts.
The orientation semester begins in the summer semester and precedes the Bachelor's degree programme. This allows you to start the Bachelor's degree programme of your choice in the winter semester. The orientation semester allows you to register for a regular programme, which means that you can apply for BAföG, for example.
The existing 6-semester Bachelor's degree programmes will be extended to 7 semesters (210 ECTS) with the full-time orientation semester. The respective curriculum of the underlying degree programmes will not be changed as a result. The joint orientation semester is an extension that precedes the existing degree programmes. This gives you the opportunity to find the right engineering discipline for you in the orientation semester and then start the regular Bachelor's degree programme in the winter semester.
This gives you the opportunity to start your studies in the summer semester. Application and registration are carried out in the usual way.

You can apply to start your degree programme with the orientation semester in the summer semester 2026 via our online portal.
If you would like to transfer to our degree programmes from another study programme, you should contact the relevant Examinations Board in advance. (We will help you find the right contact.) They will help you with questions relating to the recognition of existing academic achievements and the creation of an individual study plan.
