Cultural educators design, organise and implement cultural activities for a wide range of target groups. They are cultural mediators who can perform scientific, artistic, didactic and organisational tasks. They use artistic and cultural media to support their target groups in shaping their living environment and participating in culture and society. They are dedicated to tasks in the field of public relations and also deal with business and legal matters - such as project financing, concluding contracts and liability issues.
The tasks of cultural educators include
- Cultural mediation: supporting aesthetic and cultural education processes
- Use of artistic media and teaching special techniques in dealing with these media
- Conceptualising, implementing and evaluating offers of aesthetic and artistic experiences and activities
- Initiating and supporting neighbourhood projects, for example
- Designing projects as part of state programmes such as "Culture and Schools" and other educational institutions
- Project development and realisation in the field of mass and new media
- Acquisition and management of projects and events (financing, public relations, quality control, etc.)
- Mediation and cultural marketing in areas such as event management, audience development, artist promotion and placement
