The social work specialisation trains social workers and social pedagogues who are tasked with identifying social problems in society and supporting those affected, as well as the authorities and organisations involved, in overcoming these problems. They support people wherever they are no longer able to cope with everyday life on their own, regardless of whether they are individuals, families or groups. Topics can include addiction problems, disabilities, debt, unemployment or the penal system.
Social workers and social education workers promote and stabilise a life in humane conditions. Social workers and social pedagogues are involved as experts in the development of the necessary legal, institutional and professional concepts.
Employers are, for example, associations; federal, state and local authorities; foundations; non-profit organisations in private, public or church sponsorship as well as commercial enterprises.
