We are pleased, about the renewed nominations of the sustainably developed textile material designs, for the Materialica Award 2023:

Swetlana Koch - Ba Sc. Design Engineer Textile - Master student Textile Products Design.

The sustainable sandwich design "Revival Fiber", by Swetlana Koch, was created from surplus roving and recycled wool to follow the zero-waste philosophy. Pockets are placed on the felt to store items. The additional lighting, which lights up when the respective pocket is pressed, is used to find everything in the dark without blinding or distracting the rider(s). The shaping base of hemp fibers and corn starch, a natural binder, gives the felt surface a haptically appealing shape that can be varied at will by heat and pressure. Swetlana Koch's textile sustainable design 'Revival Fiber' finds its use equally in car door panels.
