Digital Zero Waste and 3D-Printing in Fashion
A Unisex Design with the focus on sustainability and innovation in fashion industries

This bachelor thesis deals with the digital development of a sustainable unisex outfit, following the principle "one-size-fits-most". Founded on the knowledge from the compulsory course "Design Methodology Fashion" - in which students learn to create zero waste patterns and to implement them visually in CLO 3D - the pattern design for the jacket, trousers, top and bag of the outfit "Hero of Dystopia" were developed holistically without waste and without prototype.
Circularity, sustainability and inclusion are at the center of this work, whose innovative design character is also expressed in the incorporation of environmentally friendly 3D printing. Between the shoulders on the backside of the coat, strong structures made of the biodegradable material WillowFlex by the company 3dk.berlin were printed, which are inspired by the bone structure of sea horses. These are symbolic of the environmental pollution to be stopped and, due to their sequential hermaphroditism, also of the element of unisexness.

Thanks go to the Textile Academy NRW, which made their premises available for photos, and the company 3dk.berlin, which partially supported the project materially.
