What does it mean to live in a society characterised by diverse backgrounds? The ‘Post-Migrant Film Festival’ brings these questions straight from the political discourse into our local neighbourhoods. At three special venues in Mönchengladbach and Krefeld, we are screening six selected feature films and documentaries, as well as a short filmthat focus on post-migrant realities of life.
Why take part:
- Six films, three days, one special screening: immerse yourself in stories about transculturality, heritage and the shared future of our society. This year, the focus is on migrants and the themes of SELF-DETERMINATION, EMANCIPATION and FEMINISM.
- More than just cinema: our supporting programme invites you to join us! Through film discussions and interactive, culturally educational formats, we’ll engage in dialogue together.
- Safer spaces? We aim to create spaces of empathy where different ways of life become visible and tangible.
A festival for everyone: whether you’re from the film or education sectors or simply an interested member of the public – every voice enriches the exchange. There is no admission fee and no obligation to purchase anything.
Our vision:
The project is based on the concept of ‘Post-Migrant Audiovisuals’ byProf. Dr Ömer Alkin. Our aim is to foster sustainable links between the wider community and The Hochschule Niederrhein. Through voluntary engagement in the cultural sector, we are creating a festival by the people, for society.
