Together with the younger generation and experienced experts, students from the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology made a statement as part of World Design Capital 2026. It was more than just a walk from the MAK across the Eiserner Steg to the Theater-Werkstätten. It was a protest against the loss of trades and the disappearance of valuable trade knowledge – the very foundation of our industry, culture and democratic society.
Our highlights:

- A look behind the scenes: At the Theater-Workshops in Frankfurt am Main. Costume director Markus Maas explained the seven trades involved, whilst make-up artist Uwe Schlegel emphasised the importance of interdisciplinary teams.
- The discussion: A conversation in the Frankfurt Opera’s salon about how we can safeguard this valuable knowledge for the future.
