eLearning for lecturers

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

Technologies for innovative teaching, learning and examining

The eLearning team provides digital methods, tools and technologies to support teaching education, studies and collaboration at The Hochschule Niederrhein. To enable our students to develop future skills, we offer (networked) systems for innovative teaching-learning settings and digital examiners.

We analyze needs and offers in order to advise the university management on the sustainable further development of our teaching and learning technology components. After testing and critically reflecting on new digital methods, tools and technologies, we transfer them into regular operation and develop support and qualification offers for students and lecturers. In doing so, we work closely with the university IT department and the digitaLe (media didactics) and university didactics teams.

We contribute our expertise to networks and cooperations beyond the university boundaries and gain and set impulses for digital teaching and learning at The Hochschule Niederrhein.

Answers your questions about Moodle, eLearning, eAssessment

The Hochschule Niederrhein uses Moodle as its learning management system. The system is tailored to the needs of lecturers and students and includes university-specific adaptations to provide suitable infrastructure for teaching education in STEM degree programmes, for example. In addition to Moodle for teaching education, available at https://moodle.hsnr.de, there is a separate system for the special requirements of examinations: https: //moodle-exam.hsnr.de.

Moodle is organized in course areas; within these areas are courses, the work surface for both teaching education and learning in a course. The smallest unit is the so-called activity, which represents a content or a workflow: The rich design options in Moodle are compiled for you on this page - organized once by teaching-learning scenario and once alphabetically.

You will find explanations and instructions for all central functions of the Moodle installation at the HS Niederrhein in the Moodle manual, which can be accessed in the current version via Confluence. There you will also find a brief overview of how to create new courses and information on guest access and the semester transition. On the Moodle homepage, we regularly provide information about dates for maintenance windows and qualification offers. In the Moodle course Advice: Teaching & communicating online, you will find information about the learning platform and the opportunity to exchange ideas with colleagues.

In the Moodle Docs documentation you will find help from the Moodle community. Please note that the presentation of activities and functions may vary; each Moodle installation is specifically adapted to its use.

The Hochschule Niederrhein offers a variety of digital tools for different teaching/learning scenarios. The eLearning team, Team digitaLe and the University Didactics department provide handouts, overviews of teaching/learning scenarios and other materials. here to the tool overview and get an insight into the various possibilities for use in studies and teaching education.

Would you like to use digital tools in your teaching education but do not yet have a specific didactic design in mind for your course? In the section Digital tools for your teaching/learning scenarios you will find the tools organized according to teaching concepts and purposes.

E-assessment refers to various forms of assessments, evaluations, examinations, etc. that are offered with digital support. A basic distinction is made between diagnostic assessments before the start of the learning process, formative assessments during the learning process and summative assessments after the end of the learning process.

You can find a lot of interesting information on the topic of e-assessment in the two publications Digitale Prüfungen in der Hochschule and E-Assessment in der Hochschulpraxis. Moodle-Exam is used at The Hochschule Niederrhein as an "examination Moodle" for conducting digital examinations. Further information and special features of Moodle-Exam can be found in our Moodle-Exam manual.

You can access Moodle-Exam here: https: //moodle-exam.hsnr.de
