We conduct our university-wide survey of graduates as part of the cooperation project Graduate Studies (KOAB) together with around 60 other universities and the Institute for Applied Statistics (ISTAT). Every year, around 40,000 graduates are surveyed as part of this nationwide research project. In this way, the survey results of individual subjects can be compared with a suitable benchmark, which enables targeted quality management.
The cooperation project Graduate Studies is also linked to the national graduate panel, which is carried out every four years, including this year. As part of the national graduate panel, randomly selected graduates are surveyed. The national graduate panel is primarily used for educational reporting and enables political decision-making at federal level.
At the beginning of the survey, we will inform you whether your survey results will be used for national education monitoring. If this is the case, the survey results will be used by the universities organized in KOAB and ISTAT as well as by the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW) and the International Centre for Higher Education Research (INCHER) at the University of Kassel. In this way, we ensure that the graduates are not invited to numerous studies, but only to one central study.
For The Hochschule Niederrhein, the data from graduate surveys is important in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the degree programmes and use them to improve them. In addition to the students who are actively registered on the degree programme, graduates also contribute a retrospective view - particularly with regard to their future careers.
