Building on a specialized school education in physical or occupational therapy, students are prepared to apply and further develop application-related content and methods from the fields of Health Sciences, Therapy Sciences and Business Administration. To this end, basic knowledge relevant to the professional field is taught and special emphasis is placed on interface-related competencies.

The Degree programme is oriented towards the need for academically qualified persons who work directly with patients and are enabled to develop practical and interdisciplinary solutions to problems on the basis of therapy-scientific, organizational and technological methods.

The Degree programme Applied Therapeutic Sciences first teaches the foundation courses of scientific-therapeutic action. This includes a sound knowledge of current (international) therapeutic models as well as a basic understanding of relevant statistical methods. The critical examination of evidence is of great importance here. Students are enabled to further develop and scientifically substantiate their own practical therapy content and are sensitized to critical self-reflection. Furthermore, the structures and processes of the German health care system are analyzed, also in international comparison. Professional skills are expanded by means of consciously didactically based communication and the understanding and application of technical analysis procedures, among other things. Finally, the business administration module focus clearly prepares graduates for previously undreamed-of professional development opportunities and fields of application after successfully completing the degree.

Taking into account the general study objectives, the studies are intended to impart in particular application-related content on the basis of scientific findings and to enable students to independently apply and further develop therapy-scientific methods. For the goal-oriented management of health problems, therapy-scientific approaches must be integrated into complex health care. The use of electronic media and innovative technologies is at the forefront of this. On the basis of therapy-scientific, organizational and technological methods, practice-oriented and interdisciplinary solutions to problems with international relevance are developed. The studies follow a scientific approach. In addition, it is intended to enable creative and communicative performance.

With the Bachelor's degree program "Applied Therapeutic Sciences", students receive a basic qualification in management issues, specialist scientific work and interdisciplinary communication and are qualified for the middle management level of companies in the constantly growing healthcare sector. Later areas of employment include general hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, day clinics, integrated care, research facilities, corporate health promotion and quality assurance.

For part-time studies, you must have completed an apprenticeship in physical or occupational therapy at a state-approved technical school with certain standards. These standards can be found in Appendix IV of the examination regulations. From the apprenticeship 60 ECTS are recognized for the studies.

Furthermore, you must provide evidence of part-time employment specific to the subject or of raising children or caring for family members.
