The Faculty of Industrial Engineering includes various research institutes and competence centres. These provide important transfer services for the regional and national economy. In addition to the practical orientation of the apprenticeship, students benefit from early participation in research tasks, intensive practical contacts and the strengthening of teamwork and interface skills. In addition to the core research areas of the institutes and competence centres, work is carried out on the topics of production technology and cleaning and hygiene management within the framework of the university's surface treatment centre. The team members come from the fields of engineering, business administration, economics, psychology and microbiology.

We are constantly working to establish close links with regional, supra-regional and also international cooperation partners from industry and work closely with various research institutes. We are a member of the Fakultät- und Fachbereichstag Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen e.V. (FFBT) and the Verband Deutscher Wirtschaftsingenieure (VWI). Here we regularly exchange information on technical topics.

Under the umbrella of the Hochschule Niederrhein, research, development and know-how transfer take place in the region. The Faculty of Industrial Engineering also conducts research on current issues in various faculties and competence centres.
