2023 Tutoring Award for five HSNR students.

Five students of the Hochschule Niederrhein have been distinguished for their special commitment as tutors. At the festive reception on Thursday at the Mönchengladbach campus, Annete Repp, Marc Küperkoch, Ruben Lamers, Jennifer Liesen and Cedrik Dauenheimer received the tutor award, which has been presented annually in several categories since 2011.

Background: At HSNR, there are many students who accompany their fellow students through everyday life on campus. As specialist tutors, for example, they help them with the content and preparation for exams during lectures, while revision tutors support those who have to repeat an examination in small study groups.

First semester tutors take care of new students at the beginning of their studies. As Globus tutors, for example, they help international students with questions about studies and life in Germany and organize networking activities to help them get to know each other. eTutors, on the other hand, provide support in digital teaching.

In order to prepare them ideally for their work in terms of methodology and didactics, there is the tutor program. More than 1,000 people have already been trained in this program, and the certificate for tutors has now been in existence for 20 years. In the training courses, the tutors and repetiteurs learn valuable key competencies that also help them in their professional lives.

Every year, the tutoring prize is awarded along with a certificate and a non-cash prize. This year, the jury chose Textile and Clothing Technology student Marc Küperkoch (specialist tutorial), prospective economists Jennifer Lies and Ruben Lamers (team tutorial) and Food, Nutrition and Hospitality Sciences student Annete Repp (first-semester tutorial). Chemistry student Cedrik Dauenheimer received the special award.

"It's nice that this year we can distinguish tutors who make their tutorials particularly interactive," says Heike Kröpke, head of the tutoring program. The jury includes last year's award winners, professors and academic staff.

During the ceremony, Heike Kröpke and Prof. Dr. Berthold Stegemerten, Vice President for Studies and Teaching Education, also handed out two certificates: Marvin Wild (Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology) received the specialist tutor certificate, and Christopher Koepcke was awarded the Rhineland Network Certificate.
