After deciding to major in Clothing Technology, students can specialise in either the area of specialisation Product Development or Clothing Management.
The area of specialisation in Clothing Management trains students as future managers for the diverse technical and business management tasks in the clothing industry. Students learn about manufacturing and process technologies in the ready-to-wear sector of classic clothing, workwear and protective clothing as well as technical textiles. In addition, they are taught the fundamentals of industrial science and aspects of factory planning. Sustainability, quality and environmental management are also part of the programme content.
In the area of specialisation Product Development you will gain comprehensive knowledge in all areas of the Clothing Technology process chain. You will become familiar with the core areas of clothing construction, pattern development and grading as the basis for target and product group-oriented model development as well as with the components of virtual product development - from design to marketing. This will enable you to address current issues, analyze them and implement them in a targeted manner in marketable products in an industrial context. You will learn to organize the planning, control and logistical handling of processes relevant to Clothing Technology. Production engineering programme content as well as lectures and internships on product data, quality and personnel management round off the area of specialisation.
Double degree
As part of the Bachelor's degree programme, students have the opportunity to obtain the exclusive German-Chinese double degree "International Textile and Clothing Management" in cooperation with Tiangong University/VR China.
