Double Degree in China
Tiangong University (TGU, /PR China)

As part of the Bachelor's degree programme, you have the opportunity to obtain the exclusive German-Chinese double degree in "International Textile and Clothing Management" in cooperation with Tiangong University (TGU, / PR China) .

In the double degree programme, you will receive two Bachelor's degrees in international textile and clothing management, one from TGU and one from Hochschule Niederrhein (HSNR). You will acquire intercultural skills and comprehensive knowledge of textile and clothing technology and management.

The English-language Double Degree Bachelor Study Programme begins after the 5th semester. The programme starts at TGU in March. (The semester times are similar to those at HSNR) The programme lasts 8 semesters. The first part of the double degree programme comprises 5 semesters of regular study at the Hochschule Niederrhein.

The 6th and 7th semesters at TGU comprise courses, an internship including visits to local textile companies. In addition, the Bachelor's thesis is written in the 8th semester at the TGU. HSNR students are supervised by two professors, one from TGU and one from HSNR, during the final thesis.

Double Degree in Sweden
University of Borås (Sweden)

The Double Degree in Smart Textiles and Textile Innovation is a unique international Bachelor's programme offered jointly by Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and the University of Borås in Sweden. Combining cutting-edge expertise in smart textiles, textile technology, design, production and innovation management, the programme offers a truly distinctive learning experience.

At Niederrhein University, students complete six practice- and project-oriented smart textiles modules, acquiring advanced technical skills and developing functional prototypes for real-world applications in areas such as fashion, performance textiles, healthcare and wearables.

In semesters five and six, students study at the renowned University of Borås — Sweden's centre for textile innovation — deepening their knowledge of textile innovation, recycling, sustainable fibres and textile structures. The programme concludes with an innovation-oriented bachelor's thesis in an international environment. Both locations offer modern laboratories, creative spaces, and excellent research networks.

Graduates receive two Bachelor's degrees: a B.Sc. in Textile and Clothing Management from Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences and a B.Sc. in Textile Production and Innovation from the University of Borås. This gives them excellent international career opportunities. The programme has a strong focus on interdisciplinarity, digital learning, sustainability, and practical relevance, and prepares students to play an active role in shaping the future of the global textile and smart textile industries.

Students at the University of Borås can also participate in the double degree programme: they transfer to HSNR for one year to focus on modules in the field of smart textiles.
