With the advancing academization in the nursing sector, not only the tasks and job titles for practice supervisors are changing. In particular, they have to get used to employees who view their nursing activities critically and reflectively and make their decisions on a science-based foundation course. It is therefore increasingly important to ensure that communication between practice supervisors, academic nursing staff and trainees takes place at a professional level. This continuing education course will provide you with the foundation courses in evidence-based nursing that are necessary for this purpose. Studies and guidelines are discussed, which expand the decision-making and reasoning competence in the daily routine on the ward. In addition, questions from your own institution can be worked on according to the Evidence-based Nursing (EbN) concept under professional supervision and prepared for implementation.

You will learn the basic concept of evidence-based nursing according to Behrens and Langer. The aim is to expand your professional decision-making competence and to gain critical reflection on your own nursing actions.

Upon successful completion of the continuing education program, you will be able to:

• Classify basic evidence terms.
• Understand and use nursing science foundation courses and research results.
• Conduct systematic literature searches using online databases.
• Deal with randomized-controlled trials, case-control studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.
• Critically reflect on guidelines, such as expert standards and AWMF guidelines.
• Apply implementation and evaluation options within the framework of the EbN concept.

• High practical relevance and work on individual questions from everyday professional life.
• Participants gain insight into scientific work.
• Excellent teaching education and teaching materials to combine classroom teaching with self-study phases.
• Individual support and intensive exchange in small groups.

The continuing education, which is held in an interactive seminar format, offers the opportunity to address individual questions and problems of the participants. A variety of media and an online learning platform during the self-study phases support the learning success.
