Supply chain management for practical application

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
About the continuing education program

Customers are becoming more demanding, products more complex and the variety of parts is increasing. At the same time, you need to keep an eye on costs, for example by streamlining processes and optimizing stock levels. You can find out how to implement all of these requirements in the "Supply chain management for practical application" continuing education course. The focus here is on how to create holistic solutions that benefit all partners in the supply chain instead of optimizing individual areas locally. Nowadays, it is no longer individual companies that compete with each other, but entire company networks.

Goals of the continuing education

This continuing education provides you with application-oriented expertise. Learn, for example, how you can adjust the parameters in your ERP planning specifically to the company processes in order to optimize your process chain. In addition, you can "take a close look" at your company's SCM in an individual practical project. In this way, you will receive support in solving your logistics problem and transfer practiced methods directly into practice.

Upon successful completion of the continuing education program, you will be able to:

  • Optimize inventories while maintaining the same level of delivery service and higher planning reliability.
  • Analyze processes systematically and implement improvements using established methods and simple tools.
  • Analyze existing network structures and evaluate alternatives.
  • To carry out improvement and change projects in the company in a structured manner.
  • Develop concepts for improving cooperation with suppliers and customers.
  • To develop rules for a cross-departmental design of planning and control processes in the area of materials management.
  • To collect key figures for the evaluation of planning quality, logistics costs and logistics performance.
Target group

Specialists and managers from industry, trade and logistics with functions in the areas of production, purchasing, logistics or strategic cross-sectional functions (e.g. staff positions).

Teaching and learning education

Learning-by-doing: The contents are conveyed in a varied manner with a practical emphasis / orientation through impulse lectures, short films, small group work, role plays, case studies and practical work on the PC. The continuing education offers the possibility to directly and concretely address individual questions and problems of the participants at any time. Parallel to the seminar, participants apply the knowledge they have acquired directly to individual improvement projects in their own companies.

Three questions for your lecturer, Prof. Maik Schürmeyer:

Why is continuing education on supply chain management currently of interest to many professionals?
Many employees have to take on tasks in addition to their day-to-day business in order to optimize inventories, increase delivery service and make business processes even more efficient. If you want to be successful in this, you have to keep an eye on the entire supply chain and should use tried-and-tested practical methods that are clearly taught in the course.

What are you particularly looking forward to in this continuing education programme?
I am particularly looking forward to interesting SCM projects in which the participants' specific tasks are tackled together using the methods they have learned.

And what can the participants look forward to?
Participants can look forward to an interactive continuing education programme with constant changes between knowledge transfer, learning games, PC exercises and practical examples.
