Mental stress
Determination and assessment in operation

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
About the continuing education programme

Work intensification, performance pressure, but also constantly recurring work processes have been continuously increasing the mental workload of employees for decades. For this reason, employers are required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG) to conduct a risk assessment, which since 2013 has also explicitly included the identification of mental stress.

The implementation of this compulsory requirement confronts many companies with the question of how mental stress is to be determined without specially trained personnel.

Goals of the continuing education

Many companies are faced with the question of how to determine mental stress without specially trained personnel. The continuing education starts exactly here and shows how a legally compliant implementation can be designed by means of a written survey. In addition, links to conventional risk and stress assessment are identified. In the course of the course, you will acquire the necessary tools to carry out an assessment of mental stress in a company.

Upon successful completion of the continuing education program, you will be able to:

  • Carry out the identification and assessment of mental stress in a company.
  • Construct questionnaires adapted to the specific requirements of a company.
  • Achieve the highest possible participation rate.
  • Prepare results in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Establish resource-oriented links to conventional risk and stress assessment.
Target group

Managers, works and staff councils, experienced employees from companies, representatives of chambers and health insurance companies as well as consultants for the production and service industry

Teaching and learning education

The continuing education, which is held in the form of an interactive seminar, offers participants the opportunity to address their individual questions and problems. A variety of media, including keynote speeches, small group work, presentations of results and an online learning platform, support the learning success.

The curriculum and further information can be found in the flyer and in the download area.

Three questions for your lecturer, Prof. Dr. Thomas Langhoff:

Why is continuing education in the identification and assessment of mental stress currently of interest to many professionals?
First of all, the topic is interesting for those who have to deal with the identification and assessment in a task-related manner in order to acquire the necessary tools. It is interesting for employees in companies because they learn that, in addition to safety (freedom from injury), there are also other conditions that cause illness, such as time pressure, disturbances, unclear responsibility, monotony, etc., which must be minimized or eliminated in accordance with the ArbSchG.

What are you particularly looking forward to in this continuing education programme?
Motivated participants with a personal interest.

And what can the participants look forward to?
A lecturer who has 20 years of professional experience in the field and who will use this experience to empower the participants.
