REACH
The EU Chemicals Regulation

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.
About the certificate course

The EU chemicals regulation REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) is intended to ensure that only substances that do not harm health and the environment are manufactured, marketed and used in the EU. It therefore affects all manufacturers, importers, distributors and users of chemical substances, who have had to implement these chemical legislation requirements correctly since 2007 and are responsible for the safe handling of chemicals. This leads to great uncertainty, especially for many downstream users:

  • What needs to be considered in the long-term implementation of REACH, ChemG and GefStoffV?
  • How are strategic forecasts on raw material availability to be made?
  • Who plays the central role in the REACH SVHC system?
Course objectives

The continuing education on the subject of REACH aims to build up application and action competence that will enable participants to deal strategically with the requirements resulting from the REACH Regulation in daily work processes.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate current and new substances under REACH legislation.
  • Prepare chemical safety reports and chemical safety assessments.
  • Implement REACH requirements in the company in a resource-oriented manner.
  • Develop company-specific strategies for sustainable raw material selection.
  • Reduce uncertainties in dealing with REACH and ChemG.
Advantages
  • By analyzing a substance in the REACH process, you will gain practice-relevant knowledge in European chemicals law.
  • You will learn about the strategies of all parties involved in the REACH process.
  • You will be able to strategically plan decisions regarding new developments, marketing of old products and their future.
Target group

Laboratory managers in research and development who accompany registrations; production managers in raw material management; business managers who need to develop strategies for their raw materials and product development with regard to REACH legislation
