About the certificate course

Whether a start-up or a long-established company - a presence in social networks is essential for every company today. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube & Co. are used to market the products or services. At the same time, social networks are changing internal corporate communications. And customer dialog and customer loyalty are also subject to the influence through social networks.
In this certificate course, you will learn how to systematically develop a social media strategy and evaluate your social media activities. The concepts and models from current research presented for this purpose are supplemented by numerous case studies and the opportunity to work on questions from your own company under professional supervision.

Course objectives

With successful degree of the course you will be able to:

  • Assess the importance of social media for corporate communications and your product or service marketing.
  • Recognize and evaluate potentials for the use of social media in your own company.
  • To conceptualize a strategic positioning in the social web in a cross-media, target group and media-oriented manner.
  • To systematically approach the implementation of social media management.
  • Build and interpret social media metrics (buzz, engagement, sentiment).
  • Create professional social media reporting and draw logical conclusions from it.

Teaching and learning education

The course, which is held in an interactive seminar format, offers the opportunity to address individual questions and problems of the participants. Through case studies and group work, what is learned is immediately linked to practical knowledge. The learning success is supported by an online learning platform.

Why is continuing education in "social media" currently of interest to many professionals?
More than one billion people use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, etc. These services are also used to communicate with and about companies and have a significant influence on the marketing mix of advertising companies. Companies therefore face the challenge of implementing presences on the social web effectively and efficiently. The development of systematic implementation concepts for the social media sector is becoming an urgent issue for companies, which concerns the use of suitable tools and media as well as the planning and structuring of activities, for example within the framework of editorial plans.
