Business informatics
Bachelor of Science

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

Do you want to help shape the digital future of companies? Then studying Business Informatics is just the thing for you!

The knowledge you acquire during your studies will make you a sought-after specialist for companies - whether in information management, in specialist departments, in software development, in IT operations or in technical infrastructure. You will learn how to master the challenging tasks between business administration and IT - in other words, exactly where business thinking and technical expertise come together.

Your studies will provide you with

  • Sound knowledge of business informatics, computer science and business administration,
  • important basic knowledge in maths, business English, economics and IT law as well as
  • valuable skills such as teamwork, presentation and public speaking.

As a business IT specialist, you will develop innovative IT solutions, analyse complex processes and help companies implement their digital strategy. You will use your knowledge of software, hardware and modern technologies to find clever solutions to business challenges. And because technologies are constantly evolving, we also teach you how to keep your finger on the pulse - with a mindset for lifelong learning.

Which time model suits me?

We offer you maximum flexibility with various programmes of study.

Full-time

You will complete your full-time studies in six semesters and earn 180 ECTS credits. You will build up a sound knowledge of programming, databases and business intelligence and learn to categorise economic and technical issues in the right context and develop practical solutions and design proposals. Practical content is already available to you after the first semester and you can deepen your valuable insights in practical projects during the practical phase. Alternatively, you can complete a semester abroad to gain international experience and further develop your intercultural skills.
Here you can see an example of a degree programme pathway.

Part-time

The part-time version extends over eight semesters and also comprises 180 ECTS credits. It was specially developed for students who wish to combine their studies with vocational training or professional commitments. In the part-time variant, for example, studies can be completed at the same time as vocational training in a company or the programme can be completed part-time alongside a job. The courses are structured in such a way that they can be optimally integrated into everyday working life, with flexible lecture times during the week or partly at weekends.

Below you will find an example of a degree programme pathway.

  • The stay abroad comprises 30 ECTS - 2/3 of the credits are earned in modules, the rest is credited for intercultural competences.
