Still unsure? How about...

... more orientation!

During the Orientation Semester, students should find out whether they feel comfortable in their chosen degree programme. Particularly for those who have first taken a different path after leaving school and have spent a year working and travelling abroad or doing a voluntary social year, the start of the summer semester should be a welcome plus.

... more practice!

In a dual study programme, you combine in-company vocational training with academic studies. You will receive both an apprenticeship diploma and a bachelor's degree. Depending on the specialisation semester, you will spend 2 or 3 days per week at the university and 3 or 2 days per week in the company.

Why? Spending part of your studies abroad can be very rewarding. Language skills can be expanded and cultural encounters, especially in professional teamwork, can be experienced. However, in order for the stay abroad to be successful, one should plan well in advance.

How? There are various ways to integrate a stay abroad into your studies, e.g. as a regular study semester, as internships during the semester break or for the Bachelor's thesis. We will show you some possibilities here below.

Your mobility window in the 5th semester

We have designed the curricula in the Bachelor's degree programmes ComputerScience and Electrical Engineering with a mobility window in the 5th specialisation semester.

All compulsory content are scheduled into the remaining semesters and only optional courses are provided in the 5th semester. This makes it possible for you to have academic achievements completed abroad recognized in an uncomplicated manner.

This gives you the opportunity to stay abroad towards the end of your studies without missing any required compulsory courses on site.

For further information on your way abroad, please visit the Outgoings page of International Office. For subject-related questions, e.g. integration into your own study plan, please contact the international coordinator of the faculty (see contact on the right).

German-Chinese double degree

Old town and modernity

In our Bachelor's degree Mechatronics, we enable you to enhance your studies with a double degree. Together with our partner, Tongji University in Shanghai, we are organized in the Chinese-German University of Applied Sciences (CDHAW).

The study abroad program consists of a study semester with subjects in English and a semester in which you complete the practical phase and typically write your Bachelor's thesis in a German company. In addition to the degree at the Hochschule Niederrhein, you thus also earn a Bachelor's degree at our Chinese partner university.
