Dear students,
The timetables for the new summer term 2026 will be published on February 18th, 2026 (planned date).
From then on, it will also be possible to register for courses in HiO.
The subjects listed in the file can be used as elective subjects in the respective specializations in addition to the current offerings.
The curriculum, also known as the study programme plan, is part of the examination regulations. It lists which coursework and examinations must be completed in order to obtain a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
The chronological sequence of study elements outlined in the curriculum is not compulsory for students. However, the plan shows how the degree programme can be completed within the standard period of study. It should also be borne in mind that the courses offered and semester timetables are based on the study plan.
You will also find the module handbooks and study plans of the expired examination regulations from 2010 in the dropdown on the right.
Module handbooks provide detailed information about the content of the courses, the knowledge that is required and the recommended literature.
In the PO 2017, we show the module handbooks for the study directions and specialisations separately. There are also separate module handbooks for the compulsory elective subjects (WPF).
All module-relevant information on PO2025 can be viewed directly in HiO.
The "method seminar" is a kind of "container" that can be "filled" with different, individually selected events.
Various courses are accepted for crediting as method seminars:

Admission allocation for the registrations received in HIO: 15.09.2025
Please also check your status in HiO after the first allocation. The allocation takes place continuously throughout the semester, as places become available again and again.

Please note the following rule: If you are assigned to a block seminar and do not attend without cancelling your registration via HiO at least 48 hours (2 days) in advance, you will be automatically excluded from all other seminars in this semester and placed on a blacklist!
Attendance at FB07 method seminars is recorded in HiO.
You will receive a certificate for external seminars (summer/winter academy etc.). Please note that you are responsible for keeping your certificates until they are posted, as it is often not possible to issue them retrospectively/again.
If you have achieved the required credit points for the Methodology Seminars module, please list all achievements that are to be credited in the overview of achievements for crediting for the Methodology Seminar (routing slip). These will be checked by the chair of the examination board using HiO or other attached documents. The methods seminar is then recorded as a whole in the examinations office.
It is not possible to record partial points.
The "Oberseminar" is compulsory for all students on the Bachelor's degree programmes. It is linked to the Bachelor's thesis and therefore cannot be brought forward to earlier semesters. Please refer to the guidelines for details on how it is organised and register for it using the online form.
Coursework is compulsory in all Bachelor's degree programmes. They are offered every semester. The list of topics offered is published at the end of the previous semester. Applications can only be made using the online form and not directly via the lecturers. Please also note the published guidelines.

from March 31st you can register for the projects in the coming winter semester 25/26.

Kick-off meeting and further dates:
- Date 25.09.25 at 8:15 am: Zoom kick-off event with attendance check, information about the project event, drawing of lots for the project teams, election of project leaders in the groups; end around 12:00 pm
- Date 25.09.25 at 1:00 pm: Zoom information event for all project leaders; the other team members carry out initial research on the topic; ends around 4:00 pm
- Date 26.09.25 at 8:15 am to approx. 4:00 pm: first team meetings via Zoom (with compulsory attendance), internal organisation, visit by topic creator
- Every Wednesday jour-fix from date 01.10.25 from 4:00 pm (team-specific often from 2:00 pm) until 6:00 pm team meeting with compulsory attendance in presence at the university

The Examination Board has defined regulations for the awarding of research and development projects in the Master's degree programmes, which you can view here. Among other things, they state that you must apply in writing to Prof Dr Mahltig for such an R&D project. Download the registration form, fill it out and sign it together with the person submitting the topic. Then submit it to Prof Dr Mahltig.
In the new examination regulations "PO 2017" introduced from WS 17/18, the R&D projects are graded.
