Product Development and Sensory Science | Quality and Food Safety | Regulatory Affairs .

In the dual study package, you will complete the following in addition to the Bachelor's degree programme in Food Science you will also complete an apprenticeship at the Central College of the German Confectionery Industry (ZDS) in Solingen, either as a specialist in food technology or as a confectionery technologist.

The dual package can be roughly divided into the following sections:

  • 1st year: apprenticeship in the company and at the ZDS
  • 2nd year: First and second specialisation semesters at The Hochschule Niederrhein
  • 3rd year: apprenticeship in the company and at the ZDS
  • 4th year: Third and fourth specialisation semester at The Hochschule Niederrhein
  • 5th year: Fifth and sixth specialisation semester at The Hochschule Niederrhein and Bachelor's thesis.

Special features

Facts about the application

The application for a training place is usually made one year before the commencement of studies.
The application for a place on a degree programme must also be submitted online to the university! The online application is made via the full-time degree programme. During online registration, you then upload your training contract for the dual study programme instead of the proof of internship for a full-time degree programme.

First, participation in the dual study programme must be agreed between the prospective student and the training company and a training contract must be concluded. This is followed by enrolment at the ZDS vocational school. Finally, registration takes place at The Hochschule Niederrhein for the winter semester. Any admission restrictions must be observed.
