Short description

In four semesters, you can obtain an internationally recognised degree from us that will qualify you to pursue an academic career and fill management positions in the nutrition and food industry or positions in the senior civil service.
The studies aim to develop your knowledge and expertise in the areas of

  • food innovation,
  • food product development
  • food processing andfood safety
  • food safety, quality and environmental
  • quality and environmental management and
  • planning of food processing infrastructure.

What's special:
You will have your own research project. In this research project, you will actively develop, work on and intensively research a scientific topic. You will work on your project over three semesters and can complete it with your master's thesis. You will be supervised by lecturers and staff. You will practise your professional exchange throughout the entire period by attending the Master's seminar. You will familiarise yourself with the spectrum of food science research questions and current specialist topics and benefit professionally and methodologically from the scientific discourse with lecturers and academic staff.

The focus of our Master's degree programme in Nutritional Science is on people themselves.

Prerequisites for admission to the Master's programme are

  • Proof of completion of a relevant or related Bachelor's or Diplom degree programme at a German university or a degree from a foreign university that is at least equivalent to the aforementioned; The relevant degree programmes include Oecotrophology, Nutritional Sciences, Nutrition and Home Economics, Nutrition and Food Sciences, Nutrition Therapy, Nutrition and Supply Management, Nutrition Management and Dietetics as well as Catering and Hospitality Services; other degree programmes in the field of Nutrition and Life Sciences as well as corresponding teacher training programmes can be classified as related if at least eight of these areas of competence have been achieved in the studies:
    - Business administration foundations,
    - nutritional science foundations,
    - laboratory experience in chemistry,
    - laboratory experience in microbiology,
    - food chemistry and/or biochemistry,
    - food law,
    - food technology,
    - mathematics/statistics,
    - microbiology,
    - physics and/or technology,
    - project management,
    - quality management,
    - product knowledge,
    - relevant practical experience after the third specialisation semester
  • a final grade in the relevant degree programme of at least "good" (2.5)

You will then be forwarded directly to the online registration and can upload the required documents.
If you fulfil all the admission requirements, you are guaranteed a place on the course.

The degree with the required minimum grade must be available by the time of registration at the latest.
