Bestselling author Volker Kutscher reads at the university

A prominent visitor to the Hochschule Niederrhein: The author Volker Kutscher will read from his new novel "Transatlantik" on March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the main auditorium at the Krefeld South Campus (Reinarzstraße 49, 47805 Krefeld). The event takes place in cooperation with the NS-Dokumentationsstelle Krefeld and Villa Merländer e.V.. Admission is free, but the association would appreciate a donation. Registration is required: ns-doku(at)krefeld.de

"Transatlantik" is the ninth volume in total featuring detective superintendent Gereon Rath, who investigates in Berlin in the late twenties and early thirties. Volker Kutscher's novels form the foundation course for the cult television series "Babylon Berlin". The Sky and ARD series is considered one of the most successful German television productions and is the winner of the Grimme Prize and the German Television Award, among others. Kutscher has also received several distinctions, including the BZ Kulturpreis and the Berliner Krimifuchs.

From the plot:

Spring 1937: The Rath family is split up. Actually, Charlotte Rath, née Ritter, wanted to go abroad long ago, but circumstances keep her in Berlin. Her former foster son Fritze has been put into the closed ward of the Wittenau mental hospital, her best friend Greta has disappeared without a trace and is suspected of murder. Meanwhile, Gereon Rath, who has gone into hiding and is presumed dead by the authorities, finds it too dangerous in Germany and boards a zeppelin to escape to the USA.

While Charly tries to get Fritze out of the clinic, solve Greta's disappearance and solve the murder case, things happen on the other side of the Atlantic that she would never have thought possible.
