The innovative teaching education method Service Learning is a specialisation of the program. In service learning, students work in heterogeneous and interdisciplinary teams on real societal needs. They take on challenges and implement projects that serve the common good. They gain the experience of applying content and methods taught in their studies to a real-life problem.
The scholarship students cooperate closely with practical partners from the fields of social welfare, education, culture, environment or human rights, who name a real challenge and accompany the teams in terms of content. Ideally, the university and the practice partners benefit equally from this cooperation.
Students acquire key competencies such as problem-solving skills, assuming personal responsibility or structuring decision-making processes in interdisciplinary teams. In addition, students are encouraged to form personal values and to develop a sense of social responsibility through engagement or its reflection.
