Food science (B.Sc.)

Hochschule Niederrhein. Your way.

Short description

Bachelor of Food Sciences (B.Sc.)

In food science, food takes centre stage. It deals with scientific issues relating to the topics of

Product Development and Sensory Science | Quality and Food Safety | Regulatory Affairs .

Our food consists of components of natural raw materials of plant or animal origin. In order to produce tasty, nutritionally balanced, healthy and safe food from these raw materials, a variety of external influences on the raw materials and interactions between processing conditions and food must be recognised, influenced and controlled.
Food science deals with the resulting issues and the search for acceptable solutions for practical application.

A special feature of our two Bachelor's degree programmes is the long-term project. Over a period of three semesters, students work and research together in a team on a practical issue.

Depending on whether a practical application or semester abroad was completed before the thesis. The studies last 6 or 7 semesters.

The studies prepare you for the application of science in the living and working world and create the prerequisites for a Master's degree programme.

The focus of our Bachelor's degree programme in Nutritional Science is on people.
