Study structure

The Design Engineer degree programme combines creative design processes in fashion design with the technical requirements of textile and clothing production in a unique way. It is aimed at creative talents who are enthusiastic about the technologies and holistic processes of fashion and textile development and prepares students specifically for a career as a fashion designer or textile designer in the industry.

Students acquire in-depth knowledge of the technological aspects of the textile value chain as well as the fundamentals of creative fashion and textile design. They learn how creative concepts are combined with technological processes to develop aesthetic and functional solutions. Students can choose their specialisation in fashion design or textile design from a variety of creative and technical elective modules. Focal points such as fashion (womenswear, menswear, knitwear) or textiles (surface-covering and surface-finishing designs) enable students to specialise in their preferred areas. Topics such as sustainability, circularity and social responsibility are just as much an integral part of the programme as digital technologies that will shape the product development in fashion and textile design of tomorrow.
